Ah...mountain life. ML has little do with with the blog I just like saying it.
This past week found us working towards the test of our new workshop series, Intentional Elemental Creativity. It's a dive into releasing one's own creativity in new ways and for many, with a medium that is new to them. it's done in a webinar format and will continue to be available after each of the premier workshop dates. It's been a great experience creating these workshops (there are four in the series) with our daughter, Katy Atchison, who is a certified Intentional Creativity Teacher...one of only about 300 worldwide. The premier of the first two workshops in the series, EARTH and AIR is October 24th and 25th. It's going to be a crazy cool experience. I'll be exhausted when we say goodbye on Sunday.
Grandson, Odin, is up for a week or two. Because we brought a fiber line to the house and workshops, Odin can now do his distance learning from here. As I type he's focused in front of the screen (he has books to read and workbooks to complete but it's screen time at the moment). He's really able to follow his own schedule on the computer, knows what he's suppose to do and does it...Taekwondo is in the afternoons via virtual Facebook. We hooked up a computer to the TV monitor and moved furniture out of the way. Now that he's breaking boards...better safe than sorry. Blue belt at the moment.
Wednesday is another edition of "Shenanigans of a Studio Potter"...with a special quest. Odin is here...so we're going to be working on some projects together. It's going to be a blast....Wednesday at 5:00 PM Pacific. LIVE on Facebook.
Aaaannnnddd...on SATURDAY...that would be the 17th, we're hosting out first Seconds and Discontinued Sale of both LickinFlames and the new Hobnob Collection. We've not done one of these sales before and had planned the event pre-Covid but now?...now it will be virtual on Facebook LIVE (via http://www.facebook.com/HighPrairiePottery)....or just search for "LickinFlames"...starts at 2...door prizes of course but some twists...we'll end at 3:00. Oh...and if you're signed up for our newsletter (through the contact page on the website)...you'll understand the crazy games we're playing on Saturday. Wicked fun (that's a Halloween term...wicked).
What did we do before Facebook LIVE and Zoom? Asking for a friend.
Lickinflames is known for making special yarn bowls, shawl pins and closures along with a line of mugs, plates and wall decor. Lickinflames is proud of it's 45 year history of making pottery using raku, obvara and feather decorations. The beautiful patterns created by saggar firing, especially tin foil saggar simply fascinating. All the work is handmade using stoneware clay.
