This is a fun piece. The drip on the side was caused by over firing the kiln. There is a great deal of flexibility when firing raku, but we exceeded the normal limit of our firing going well above 1900 degrees.
When this piece is removed form the firing it is place in a can with newspapers in it. The newspaper catches fire and uses up all of the oxygen in the can. The lid is place on the can when the fire is going crazy.
I like to say that I give the newspaper an end worth of it's content...
The piece is best used for dry contents. It is approximately 6 x 3 1/2 inches
