Iddy Biddy Candy Jar
Our handmade Candy Jars are individually decorated which makes each a unique item. Even though we carefully fire each piece in the same manner, variation occurs and gives unique qualities to the piece. Each of these jars are similar to those pictured, depending on the technique chosen.
But you don't have to use this little jar for just for candy...use your imagination. It may be a little jar but it's got big uses. For example, we have some eggs that out lovebirds laid but which did not hatch...the jar is perfect for keeping these small memories safe.
The lids take several weeks to make and sponge before drying. After they are dried and fired once, the fun can begin. Then the finishing can take place. When the lids are removed from the kiln and cooled, each is washed, dried and added to the glass jar before being shipped to you.
The colors and iridescence on the individual raku pieces are a hallmark of LickinFlames. Obvara is a relatively new technique outside of it's origins in the Baltic area of Eastern Europe. We call our work decorating with feathers, Carbon Painting, as our approach is more painterly than simply burning feathers or hair.
The obvara option will come with a variety of color accents, as will the pieces decorated with carbonized feathers. The raku option is available with our stream inspired pattern in our most popular glaze combination.
Remember that because of the handmade nature of lids, some variations should be expected. The quality is always the same high standard that LickinFlames is known for, but some variations in color, design element placement and decorative patterns needs to be allowed. We know you will love the piece that is shipped.
