Lavender Sachet Jar for Aromatherapy
Our handmade Lavender Sachet Jars are individually decorated which makes each a unique item. Even though we carefully fire each piece in the same manner, variation occurs and gives unique qualities to the piece. Each of these jars are similar to those pictured, depending on the technique chosen.
These unique jars were designed to help solve an issue familiar to all knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners...moths. Moths do not like lavender and tend to shy away from small spaces where lavender is present. We developed this pretty little jar to fit nicely in a drawer and to help keep moths at bay.
Each piece come with 5 grams of newly harvested lavender buds. Nine grams is about 5 tablespoons and the jar is handsomely filled with that amount.
But here's the added bonus. This little lid doubles as a flower frog! Small flowers and buds are delightful when displayed in this small lidded jar. Even a small group of dandelions would look great in the jar.
The lids take several weeks to make, punch holes and sponge before drying. After they are dried and fired once, the fun can begin. Then the finishing can take place. When the lids are removed from the kiln and cooled, each is washed, dried and added to the glass jar with the lavender.
The colors and iridescence on the individual raku pieces are a hallmark of LickinFlames. Obvara is a relatively new technique outside of it's origins in the Baltic area of Eastern Europe. We call our work decorating with feathers, Carbon Painting, as our approach is more painterly than simply burning feathers or hair.
The obvara option will come with a variety of color accents, as will the pieces decorated with carbonized feathers. The raku option is available with our stream inspired pattern in our most popular glaze combination.
Remember that because of the handmade nature of lids, some variations should be expected. The quality is always the same high standard that LickinFlames is known for, but some variations in color, design element placement and decorative patterns needs to be allowed. We know you will love the piece that is shipped.
