These handmade clay coasters are individually decorated which makes each within the set a unique item.


The tile take about a month to dry and then the finishing can take place. Each set of four is decorated in succession so that the set has the best chance of matching...but even then, variation occurs and gives unique qualities to the set. The entire decorating process starts when the colors are applied. The pieces are then fired for a second time to set the color.When the coasters are removed from the kiln, feathers are laid onto the glowing surface and carbonized into the clay. The the pieces are cooled, each is washed, dried, sprayed with an acrylic coating and cork bumpers are added to the bottom to protect your fine furniture.

The beautiful patterns created by saggar firing, especially tin foil saggar simply fascinating. All the work is handmade using stoneware clay.
