Tumblers
Wheel thrown and dimpled...and just like their small cousin the cup...each one is uniquely comfortable. The glaze took nearly a year to get to a place where it looks great and feels even better. When I set out to make utilitarian pieces again I really wanted them to feel good in the hand. This series of glazes met my goal. As I pondered the glaze I made a cup that I liked...it felt good in my hand...and at the end of a day making pottery, this tumbler is extremely comfortable in my old gnarly hands. The funky dimples really work well.
Of course tumblers could look good, feel good and not be functional. The tumblers (like their cousins the mugs and cups) go into the dishwasher and microwave. The little dimples make this easy to hold. We have a number of people comment with something along the lines of, "this was made by someone who understands arthritis." Yes I do...but without arthritis the cup still feels cool.
These are the same size as our 12 ounce mug. Many people choose to use a tumbler instead of a mug for their favorite beverage. It's warm in the hand.
Orange? Who does an orange glaze...I surprised myself and liked it. It took a bit of tweaking to get the orange to be right, but now I'm digging it.
PURPLE! It's the most asked for color and this shade of purple is really a marriage between violet and purple. Just a happy color.
Of course because these are handmade, you need to consider that there will be some variation in the pieces. It's just the nature of the process.
